Lucidity.
There are a few words that communicate something very unique and leave room for personal translation and understanding. Lucid, is one of my favorite, top three probably.
Lucid, according to most definitions that I found, means clarity of thought, clear perception and understanding. I believe that the best way to describe it through my eyes is those moments when all is clear and there is depth to your vision, either mental, spiritual or both.
It is these lucid moments in live that make life colorful, complete and most of all, enjoyable (love that, en-joy-able or in-joy or enabled with joy!). The English language is probably one of the most capable if you pay attention to the details and one of the sloppiest if you don't. Back to the topic.
How many of you have heard the saying "Mow when the grass is green."? I know people that insist on pushing harder when the mojo is not there or the results fail to meet expectations. As a salesperson for years, I learned to back off when the mojo was off and to work ever so much more when the magic was happening. For my rewards I accomplished more by working when the "sun was good" so to speak and by stepping back and enjoying life, creating needed space in my life when it wasn't.
It is when the magic/mojo or whatever you wish to call it, is the most lucid of times. When you can see the end results even before you get there and all the pieces of the puzzle seem to just fall into place. I am not saying stay down when you get knocked down. I am not discounting persistence. I am saying that there is good judgement and grace to consider vs. if we aren't sometimes beating our heads against a wall and calling it good for us. I wish I had some good rules of thumb to help you decide which moments are which. I cannot. I can only tell you what I do, as I get better at it in my own life. Creating space in my life, a step back, being still and quite so the understanding or guidance needed to make that call has room to make it'self known (or at least me being quiet enough to hear the quiet little voice of inspiration when it speaks).
Lucidity, would be the clarity or presence of being that can light the way. How do we find these moments in our lives? How necessary are they to give our lives balance so that the hectic and pressing does not rule over us? How often do we take time to create space and stillness in ourselves so that the natural guides within us can have their say?
May we all recognize the lucid moments in our lives. May we take advantage of them to bless our lives and those who's lives are linked to us. May you discover your purpose in them.
Peace and lucid moments to you and yours.

Beautiful post Billy. Thank you very much. I have spent a lot of time trying to "fit a round peg in a square hole". It's amazing to me that now I can recognize that square hole so much faster. I've learned to back off. Sometimes that's our job. Sound the alarm and back off.
ReplyDeleteI love those lucid moments. I love those places where we can find those lucid moments. I know it's up to us to make them where ever we may be, but there are some places that are naturally more peaceful. Places where you can block out the world. Places that allow you to be the being you were meant to be. When I find them I want to return often. I need all the help I can get.
Living in a world that you are not of can become very trying.
Thank you for your comment. I agree, there are some places that make accessing stillness much easier. This might be why I enjoy sailing so much. A connection with the elements.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!
So... Is there a way to be lucid all the time? Because I'm against beating my head against a wall.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though-- great post!
I imagine it's possible ;D
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by today!
Nice I like this idea of working even harder when times are good. I think too often we stop when things are good and then wonder why the good times ended.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm in a lucid period in my life. I guess it's time to pull out all the stops!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! May you find great joy in what you do!!! ;D
